Which design strategies do urban nomads use in their temporary homes?
Mobility, which is one of the most powerful impulses of our society, has a visible impact on our current lifestyles: new types of habitation inspired by nomadic living emerge, and people develop creative interior concepts to build a temporary home for themselves.
My master thesis focuses on the topic of mobility, and how identity is built in accordance with this short-term way of living. The publication offers explorative insights into the everyday world of urban nomads, with examples of how to construct a temporary home. The phenomenology of current practices of mobility is a tribute to the aesthetics of nomadic living strategies, and should inspire new design concepts in an urban space.
