Spielen ist ein grundlegendes menschliches Bedürfnis, das kulturübergreifend und intrinsisch motiviert ist. Trotz seines universellen Werts schwinden Orte, an denen Spiel stattfinden kann und soll. Im verdichteten urbanen Raum und von Produktivität und Digitalisierung bestimmten Alltag gerät das zweckfreie, analoge Spielen in den Hintergrund.
Guerilla Playground antwortet auf die Notwendigkeit, den Stadtraum als Ort vielseitiger Bedürfnisse zu begreifen. Dabei ist das Spielen bewusst mitzudenken, auch ausserhalb dafür definierter Zonen. Das Projekt ist ein experimenteller Gegenentwurf zur bestehenden Spielplatzlandschaft, indem die gesamte Stadt zum möglichen Spielraum erklärt wird.
Das Spielebuch im Pocket-Size-Format von Guerilla Playground verbindet fotografische Dokumentationen von spielerischen Interventionen mit dem Appell, selbst tätig zu werden. Die Sammlung lädt dazu ein, mit einfachen Mitteln in den urbanen Raum einzugreifen: Das Mitgestalten wird zum spielerischen Akt.

Play is a fundamental human need that transcends cultural boundaries and is intrinsically motivated. Despite its universal value, the spaces where play can and should occur are disappearing. In dense urban areas and a daily life defined by productivity and digitalisation, free, analogue play is increasingly pushed into the background.
Guerilla Playground responds to the necessity of understanding urban space as a place that serves a variety of needs. It consciously includes play, even outside of designated play areas. The project is an experimental alternative to the existing playground landscape, declaring the entire city a potential play space.
The pocket-sized Guerilla Playground play guide combines photographic documentation of playful interventions with a call to take action yourself. The collection invites readers to intervene in urban spaces using simple means: participation becomes a playful act.
