Auf der Suche nach textilem Material stiess ich auf die Lagerbestände der SBB, von denen mir ein Teil zur Verfügung gestellt wurde. So ist aus den Resten von Sitzbezügen eine Kleiderkollektion entstanden, die die Biografie dieser Textilien neu interpretiert und sie wieder lebendig werden lässt.
Graffiti, Sticker und Tags sind kraftvolle Mittel der Aneignung und Kommunikation im öffentlichen Raum. Die Kollektion nutzt diese, um die typischen Stoffe und Muster der SBB-Sitzbezüge, die vielen von uns vertraut sind, zu dekontextualisieren.
Der Entstehungsprozess der Kollektion begann mit der Analyse der Materialien und dem Entwurf möglicher Schnittmuster. In Zusammenarbeit mit ausgewählten Künstler:innen wurden einzelne Stoffe der Kollektion bedruckt. Durch Sampling wurden die kreativen Techniken der Street-Art mit Siebdruck und Schneiderei rekonstruiert – ein Verfahren, das die damit verbundene kreative Praxis zelebriert. Die Motive greifen unterschiedliche lokale Fortbewegungsmittel auf und bringen die Textilien so wieder in Bewegung.
Die Kollektion ist Teil meines Labels Kanza, das sich zum Ziel setzt, eine Schnittstelle zwischen Kunst und Mode zu schaffen.

During my search for textile materials, I came across the inventory of the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB), which they kindly allowed me to access. Using the remnants of their seat covers, I was able to curate a clothing collection that breathes new life into these textiles and tells their unique story.
Street art has long been a powerful tool for communication and appropriation in public spaces. This collection uses graffiti, stickers, and tags to give these familiar fabrics and patterns of SBB seat covers a fresh interpretation.
The process of creating the collection involved a thorough examination of the materials and the development of potential designs. Collaborating with selected artists, individual fabrics from the collection were printed, and sampling was used to combine the creative techniques of street art with screen printing and tailoring, all in celebration of the associated creative practice. The motifs draw inspiration from various local modes of transportation, imbuing each textile with a sense of movement.
The collection is part of my label Kanza, which aims to create an interface between art and fashion.
